Braces:
We offer a wide range of methods to straighten your teeth. We were the first dentists in Ireland to offer braces in 6 months. Not only this but we now offer FREE tooth whitening after treatment. If you are planning a wedding or other big event you can now have straight white teeth before the big day.
6 Month Braces:
These are our most popular brace at the Seapoint Clinic ans we were the first clinic in Ireland to offer this amazing treatment. These braces usually involve treating the front teeth only and the goal is to give the patient a great smile. We do not try to change the bite to any significant degree and the results we aim for are purely cosmetic. If your goal is to change your bite or move alot of the back teeth you may still need to see a specialist orthodontist for braces.
With 6 month braces we are able to offer both clear and metal braces. The clear cost a little more but are much more discrete. While not invisible many people who were concerned at the start find that they are seldom noticed and are less conspicuous than they imagined.
We get many patients who come in for 6 month braces who were previously told that their only option was to wear braces for 2 years or get veneers. Often this is not the case and the smile can be fixed in a reasonable period of time. If you have significant tooth malposition this may not be possible.

How can it be done in 6 months?
The Six Month Braces Technique utilizes the latest technology combined with time tested techniques to move your teeth quickly and safely. Our goal is to give you a great smile and so we only treat the teeth that will benefit your smile. We do not try to alter your bite or back teeth as a specialist orthodontist would.
Does the Six Month Braces Technique use high forces to move the teeth?
No. Actually the Six Month Braces Technique is a low force technique. Many people think we just “tighten” the braces more to get the teeth moving. This would actually slow down tooth movement. To reiterate, the Six Month Braces Technique is a low force technique.
Does the Six Month Braces Technique damage the teeth, roots, or gums in any way?
No, the causes for the above complications are individual biology and high forces over a long period of time. The Six Month Braces Technique uses low force with a short treatment duration to safely move the teeth.
Are Six Month Braces more painful than regular braces?
No, the Six Month Braces Technique uses low forces to move the teeth not high forces that can cause pain. Your teeth may be tender with any brace but this is normally after adjustments only and can be controlled with OTC painkillers.
Does the Six Month Braces Technique cost more than regular braces?
No, actually since there are fewer visits, the Six Month Braces Technique is less expensive than some other people’s regular braces.
Do I need to wear braces on all my teeth?
Yes, we have both small metal and clear braces. The clear braces blend into your teeth making them much more discrete.
Do you ever extract teeth with the Six Month Braces Technique?
We rarely extract teeth using the Six Month Braces Technique. We prefer to avoid this when there are any other alternatives.
How often do I have to come in?
Usually every 4 weeks for a 15 to 30 minute appointment, and a little longer for the appointment when we put the braces on. Usually treatment is completed in 7 visits. Also, patients of this practice are usually seen on time, so you will not be waiting long to be seated for your appointment.
Do I have to wear a retainer?
Yes, as with any procedure a retainer is necessary. If you do not want to wear a retainer very long you can have your teeth splinted together. This is known as a fixed or bonded retainer.
How do I get started?
Give us a call on 284 2570/ 214 0566 to make an appointment for a consultation. If you would like to have an idea if you might be suitable for these braces before an appointment, you can send a close up photo of your smile to info@seapointclinic.ie. We will get one of our dentists to take a look and get back to you.
- Do Adults Really Get Braces?
Absolutely. Many people did not get braces when they were young. Either their parents could not afford braces, or their teeth could not be straightened with the techniques of years ago. Now they have problems with their teeth and gums or they are just unhappy with their smile. Other people did have braces when they were young, but they did not wear their retainers until they stopped growing. The result is that their teeth are now a little bit crooked. Now they are unhappy with their smile so they get braces too.
Presently nearly all of our braces are being done on adult patients. It is quite a change from 20 years ago when dentists were generally only treating children.
- How much do adult braces cost?
Please visit our pricing page for up to date details of all costs involved. Our braces all include free tray tooth whitening after treatment and are a Tax-Deductible expense.
- Are there any age limits?
No, there are no age limits! People as old as 60 and 70 are getting braces. People know how important it is to take care of themselves.
- Why Do Adults Get Braces?
Most adults get braces because they realise that taking care of your smile is part of taking care of yourself.
Your smile is the most important feature on your face.
Are you happy with your smile now?
Does your smile look as good as it did when you were younger? What do you think about someone who has a pleasing smile.
What do you think about someone who has an awful smile?
Braces can keep your smile from looking old. At the end of your braces your smile ends up looking great!
- Are There Health Advantages To Adult Braces?
Yes. When your teeth are crooked, they are harder to clean and will wear unevenly. Your gums can get inflamed and your teeth hurt. Braces can prevent some gum problems and prevent tooth loss.
- What does adult braces feel like?
Well, the beginning part of the treatment takes a bit of getting used to for adult patients. However, after treatment gets started, things are quite comfortable.
When you have your braces placed your mouth takes some time to get used to something new. This only lasts a few days and after this you’ll hardly notice them.
When we use gentle pressure to move your teeth it is completely normal to have a sensation that they are slightly loose. This is because the ligaments that hold your teeth in are being stretched a bit. Don’t worry when the braces come off this goes away entirely.
Other than that, braces will feel the same whether you get treatment when you are in your teens, or whether you get treatment when you are an adult.
- Will I be stuck with a "metal mouth" look when I have braces?
Definitely not. Braces have changed a lot in the last 20 years and you do not have to get a metal mouth when you get braces. Cosmetic and Clear braces are really quite discrete.
- Can I eat as normal or will the braces stain after eating?
Yes, you can eat most foods when wearing cosmetic braces. Sticky foods like toffee, should be avoided. Braces do tend to stain a little after wearing them. People who tend to like staining foods such as coffee, Indian food, red wine etc, sometimes have to cut down. When your braces are checked, we change all of the parts that stain and place fresh white ones.
Invisalign, the clear brace, can be removed for eating and therefore does not tend to stain at all and can be cleaned easily.
- What will my spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend think about my getting braces?
Most adults realise how important having straight teeth and a healthy smile is, and they will support your decision to take care of yourself. With alternatives like Clear Braces and Invisalign you will look great and be able participate in normal activities.

Who will perform the treatment for me?
The braces will be performed by a dentist trained in the 6 month braces technique. The dentist is not a specialist orthodontist and performs other treatments in addition to braces. If you are unsuitable for 6 month braces you may need to be referred to a specialist in orthodontics.
Inman Aligner: This is a removable option suitable when there are only very minor problems which need correction. They are particularly useful after orthodontic relapse. Your dentist can tell you if you are suitable for these aligners.
We get many referrals for braces from other dentists. However you do not need a referral to see us for treatment. We are dentists who are trained in 6 month braces. If you have a significant issue with your bite we may refer you to a specialist orthodontist.
Full Mouth Braces:
If you have a significant jaw malformation or your teeth bite very badly you may need to get extensive braces which take 2 years or more. If shorter term braces are not an option for you, we do refer you to a specialist orthodontist for this treatment.
