TEETH IN A DAY

Teeth in a day

Up until now if you were missing your teeth replacing them with implants was a long and difficult undertaking. the treatment would require different stages, with each requiring a healing time of several months. During this healing time you needed to wear a denture over the area which would be looser than previously and difficult to eat with.

At Seapoint we can now avoid this situation in cases where a full jaw of teeth is planned. The technique is called "Seapoint Teeth in a Day" and it involves the placement of implants in the jaw with teeth fixed to them on the same day. This means you can leave the clinic with your smile intact and go out and enjoy a meal and even steak the same day!

Typically there is only one surgical visit required which means only one local anaesthetic. Your extractions can be performed on the same day as the implants go in and from them on all the procedures will be above the gum and so not need you to be numbed up.

Pricing:

We offer competitive pricing on the procedure and our fees for this procedure are "all-inclusive". This means the fee includes your extractions, your temporary bridge, your implants, 2 hygienist visits, check ups, CT scan, OPG x-rays and all required visits. the treatment is also tax deductable as a medical expense. For those travelling from outside Dublin we are able to help with arranging competitive accommodation and chauffeur service to the clinic.

How does it work?

First visit:

You will meet with our treatment coordinator who will give you some information on the "Seapoint Teeth in A Day". You will be shown what the bridge used looks like. If you decide to proceed with treatment you will see a dentist for a consultation and x-rays. These will determine what type of implants you will need and how the teeth will be made. If everything is ok you will have an appointment made for the implant placement. We will normally see you one or two more times before placing the implants to allow us to decide on the type of and position of the new teeth.

Unlike regular implants with "teeth in a day" the implants are connected to the bridge on the same day as the implants are placed. This means you can get rid of a palate immediately from your denture and can chew foods which may have been off the menu for some time.

Day of Implants:

The procedure normally begins with implant placement in the morning. We use a team approach for "Seapoint Teeth in a Day" and there will be several dentists involved in getting your teeth ready the same day. Typically there will be the dentist placing the implants, the restoring dentist and a technician involved.

Once the implants are placed and the teeth extracted some impressions will be taken. You will be left to relax for some time and several hours later the teeth will be tried in. If there are any issues with appearance or bite these will be addressed before you leave the same day.

You leave the clinic in the late afternoon with the teeth fixed in place and you can enjoy a meal later with teeth that do not move.

Visits Required:

The implants can be placed (subject to availability) as soon as the day after you initially come for your consultation. Our preferred approach is to have several visits to check the appearance of the teeth before surgery. If you are travelling a long way and need to keep visits to a minimum we can do it all the day after you come for consultation.

Once the implants are placed we like to see you again a number of times for checks and adjustments. You will need to see our hygiene team to check your cleaning is as required. There may be some adjustments needed to the bridge over the first few months as per your requirements. After 6 months healing time we will normally make a final bridge once you have had a chance to decide on the final colour and shape of the teeth.

Final Teeth:

There are different options available in terms of the final bridge.

All Acrylic Bridge: This Bridge is the lowest cost bridge and is only suitable long term for those people who wear a full denture on the other jaw to where the implants are placed. This is because this bridge is not as strong as other types and cannot deal with the higher chewing force present when implants or teeth are present in the other jaw. This is the cheapest restoration available.

Milled Titanium bar: This uses a computer manufactured bar to strengthen the bridge. It is much longer lasting than the all-acrylic bridge.

CM Bridge: This is used in the upper jaw only and is the most cosmetic bridge that can be made. It involves 12 individual crowns being made on a milled titanium framework. These crowns are fully custom made for you and can incorporate any modifications you prefer.

The type of final bridge to be made is best discussed with your dentist following consultation. Teeth in a day may not be suitable for you if you are a severe grinder or have parafunction. Smokers are at higher risk of problems with any implant treatment.
