Developmental marks
Spots you’ve had since your adult teeth came through, often caused by minor disturbances while the enamel was forming
If you’ve always had white spots or marks on your front teeth, you’ve probably been told there’s not much that can be done — or that your only options are drilling them out or covering them with veneers. That’s no longer true.
ICON is a minimally invasive treatment that blends white spots into your natural tooth structure — with no drilling, no injections, and no damage to healthy enamel. For most patients, it’s completed in a single visit.
ICON uses a technique called resin infiltration. Rather than covering the spot or drilling it away, a specially developed resin is drawn into the porous enamel of the white spot itself. Once set, the treated area scatters light the same way as the surrounding enamel — so the spot visually disappears into the natural tooth.
The appointment is straightforward:
No drilling. No injections. No healthy enamel removed. Most cases are completed in one visit, and you’ll see the result immediately.
Many patients come to us assuming veneers are their only option for white spots. Often, they’re not — and treating the spot itself is kinder to your teeth.
At Seapoint, our approach is always to recommend the least invasive treatment that achieves the result you want. For isolated white spots on otherwise healthy teeth, ICON is frequently that treatment. Where spots are part of a bigger cosmetic picture, ICON can also be combined with whitening, bonding, or aligner treatment as part of a full smile design.
No. ICON doesn’t require drilling or injections. Most patients describe it as no more uncomfortable than a professional clean.
Most white spot cases are completed in a single visit of around 45–60 minutes, depending on how many teeth are treated.
The resin becomes part of the enamel structure, so results are long-lasting. We’ll advise you on caring for treated teeth at your appointment.
Yes — in many cases we recommend whitening first, then ICON, so the treated spots are matched to your final tooth shade. We’ll sequence this for you as part of your plan.
Cost depends on the number of teeth treated and whether ICON is combined with other treatments. We’ll give you a clear, itemised quote at your consultation before anything is booked.
It’s often ideal for teenagers with post-brace white marks. Suitability is confirmed at consultation.
