6 Month Braces: What’s Involved

6 Month Braces: What’s Involved

By far our most popular choice for tooth straightening, you can achieve the smile you always wanted in 6 months or less. This makes our 6 Month Braces plan very popular with brides (and grooms) before their wedding day or simply people who are just too busy to spend the next 2-3 years wearing braces. The reason why people choose to get their 6 Month Braces at Seapoint Clinic is down to the sheer amount of experience we have in providing this life-changing treatment. Our goal is to provide you with a natural smile, while only treating the front teeth and avoiding any unnecessary changes to the bite. If you wish to change your bite or to move your back teeth, you may need to get traditional braces which may take longer.

Our 6 Month Braces are available in both clear and metal braces. While white braces are coloured to resemble tooth, they are slightly more expensive but are remarkably discreet. They are ideal for anyone wishing to keep their braces as discreet as possible and are obviously far more inconspicuous than the metal finish braces. We often find that people who come in for 6 Month Braces consultations have been previously told they were unsuitable and to opt for traditional braces for two years or to purchase veneers. More often than not, this is not the case and your smile can be fixed in a reasonably short period of time.

Does The 6 Month Braces Plan Use Excessive Force To Move Teeth?

No, as a matter of fact the 6 Month Braces Technique uses low force to gradually move teeth into place. Many people assume we merely tighten the teeth to set them into place, when this would actually slow down tooth movement.

Will It Damage My Teeth or Gums?

No, due to using our low force technique with a short treatment duration, we cans safely move the teeth. If your teeth are crowded, braces will actually help keep them cleaner which will benefit their health in the long term.

Can Adults Really Get Braces?

Of course. We find that many people did not get braces when they were young and now find they have problems with their teeth and gums. In some cases, people are simply unhappy with their smile or had braces when they were younger, but never wore their retainers for the correct period of time. This means that their teeth are now crooked and are unwilling to get braces due to how they look or how people will perceive them. However, rest assured that it's nothing like 20 years ago when dentists often only treated children. The treatment may take a little time to get used to for adult patients. But, once the treatment has started, things become increasingly comfortable. When your braces have been placed, it will take some time for your mouth to get used to it. This is purely down to the ligaments which hold your teeth in placed being slightly stretched. However, once the braces come off this sensation will go away entirely.

Will I Be Able To Eat As Normal?

Yes, you can pretty much eat most foods while wearing cosmetic braces. However, it's important to note that sticky foods such as toffee should be avoided. Over time, braces can stain a little, so it's recommended that staining foods such as coffee, tea, curries, red etc should be cut down. When getting your braces adjusted, we change all of the parts that tend to stain and replace them with fresh white/clear ones. If you are using Invisalign braces, the clear brace can even be removed, allowing you to eat as normal and without the worry of staining.

This removable option is best suited to adjusting only minor problems and are often particularly useful after an orthodontic relapse.

Conventional Braces

If you suffer from a significant jaw malformation or suffer from a bad bite, you may need to get extensive braces which will take two years or more. If shorter term braces are not an option for you, we do refer you to our in-clinic specialist orthodontist for treatment.
