Can medications destroy your teeth?

Did you know that the most commonly prescribed drugs can cause reduced saliva flow and therefore increase risk of decay?

Saliva flow is incredibly important to reduce tooth decay. It does this by remineralising the enamel after we have eaten. When saliva reduces the decay rate can go up significantly unless extra precautions are taken.

There are preventative treatments available. Ask your hygienist about fluoride treatments which can strengthen your teeth and fissure sealants to cover rough areas. These modern sealants can release tooth strengthening fluoride into the teeth so strengthen them.
