What to I do if a bracket falls off?

What to I do if a bracket falls off?

This has been one of the most coming questions during the coronavirus pandemic but it is something that can happen at any time..

First thing is not to overly worry

Brackets are glued to teeth and any glue can break especially if you bite on something hard such as crusty rolls or sweets. If your bracket comes loose it will usually stay held on the wire so you should not swallow it. If it feels sharp you can put some orthodontic wax (Or similar) to take the edge off.

Back Teeth

If a bracket comes off from the last tooth it might fall off entirely and the wire can be VERY Sharp and irritating. Wax (or even chewing gum) is definitely helpful here but a trip to the dentists as soon as possible is the way to go..

Slow Movement

Once a bracket is off the main problem is that the tooth is no longer going to move as planned. The longer you leave it the more behind your treatment will be so it';s best to try to get to the dentist within a few days if you can.
