How long do composite veneers last?

Composite veneers generally last between 3-5 years once well maintained. This means ensuring that you visit your dentist for a check-up at least once a year and keeping up with your regular hygiene appointments. With instant veneers they will typically start to look less attractive after a few years, They may become stained or chipped for example. A complete failure would be very rare unless the tooth was heavily broken down for example. If you keep your teeth very clean and don't grind your teeth they will usually last longer.

What happens to composite veneers after 5 years?

Normally after 5 years the composite veneers will become more prone to staining. They may also become more prone to chipping or de-lamination from the tooth. Sometimes they can last for many years after this depending on your diet and the bite strength. We recommend reviewing them with your cosmetic dentist at that point to decide if they should be maintained or replaced.
