How to Choose the Right Orthodontist in South Dublin
When taking the important decision of who to trust with your smile, there are a few things that should be considered.
Experience
Whoever is going to look after you should have seen hundreds of different types of cases so that whatever your mouth throws at them, they have dealt with it before. Best not to have someone fresh out of college practising on your teeth, in our opinion.
Training
General dentists get some training in orthodontics in university, but it is extremely limited. Some general dentists do short courses in ortho to allow them to treat basic cases (typically in adults with minor issues). There is nothing better than someone who has had 3-year orthodontic training as an orthodontist. This specialisation gives them experience and knowledge that just can’t be gained by part-time study.

Invisalign Experience
Sometimes dentists can get a bit stuck in their ways and use old techniques just because they always have done it that way. Make sure whoever looks after your smile is experienced with Invisalign and clear aligners so you can benefit from the latest advances in technology too. A Diamond Invisalign Provider typically has treated hundreds of cases successfully.

Technology
Make sure you work with someone who is tech-savvy. That can allow for fewer visits and better results using computer-aided design features. Does your dentist use digital scanning, digital low-dose x-rays?

Convenience
You will be visiting the clinic regularly, so make sure it’s easy to get to for you or your children. Is there public transport nearby?
Long Established
Is the clinic you are considering a pop-up? Do they have a reputation and roots in the local community? You want to work with a clinic that will stick around for your future needs.
Comfort
Choose somewhere you like to visit with comfortable surroundings and nice décor. If you are spending money, it’s nice to feel looked after.

Reading Reviews
Have a read through the reviews from previous patients. Make sure there are many reviews from happy patients and not a handful giving a high score but lacking substance.
Pricing and Payment Plans
Naturally, nobody wants to pay over the odds for a service, and this should be a consideration. It is important to consider that you only get one set of adult teeth, however. They should be looked after for life and getting the right person is key. Smile Direct Club sounded great and offered low-cost braces but left clients in the lurch when they closed down. Tax relief is available on orthodontics at 20%.
